Wild Embodied Writing

The Wild Circle

Are you cultivating your creative life as a wisdom keeper and story catcher? Join a community of writers building nourishing and sustainable practices.

The Wild Circle is a community space hosted on Substack offering you different levels of support.

If you’re a heart-centered business owner, holistic practitioner, or conscious entrepreneur writing about your work in the world, there’s a place waiting for you in The Wild Circle.

Creativity ebbs and flows, it moves in circles or waves of deep focus followed by rest and replenishment.

This is why we meet every other week. The intention is to create a sense of rhythm and consistency, without feeling pressured or overwhelmed. This cyclical nature is at the heart of the Wild Embodied Writing process, and is built into the foundation of the Membership.

The seasonal, guided writing sprints are a chance for you to stretch your creative practice to see what’s possible for you and your writing life when you commit to a week, 14 days, or three weeks of dedicated effort.

How to get the most out of your Wild Embodied Writing Membership

You likely have a full plate already, with commitments and responsibilities in your personal and professional life. Which is why this membership is meant to support you in weaving your creative practice into your real life.

The time commitment to get the most out of this experience is modest. If you’re able to write for 10, 15, or 30 minutes most days of the week, you will be getting the full value of the Wild Embodied Writing experience.

For the live writing sessions, try to attend at least one a month at a minimum. We recognize the scheduling may not work for you, so we will record the sessions and share them with you. As the membership community evolves, we will attempt to accommodate as many schedules as possible by adding alternative session dates and times.

Your Wild Embodied Writing Guide

I'm Leah Kent, a writer, book coach, and book designer. I help radiant, creative visionaries just like you to bring their books and sacred body of work to life.

I’m also a recovering perfectionist and have consciously worked to unravel a lifetime of people-pleasing to find my own voice.

While walking through every step of the writing, editing, designing, and self-publishing journey myself, I encountered blocks, resistance, and doubt at every step. Every heart-centered expert I’ve supported with their own writing, also struggles with these patterns.

As these patterns emerged, I could see what was most effective to help myself and others to write with more ease and unlock the stifled self-expression waiting to burst forth. This is precisely what we’ll explore in Wild Embodied Writing.

From a lifetime of writing, this is what I know about the creative journey:

Creativity flows in cycles.

We can’t expect our creativity to always be “ON”, there’s a natural ebb and flow to the earth and that’s alive in our writing, too. This writing sprint honors these cycles.

Deep wisdom comes from the body, not the brain.

Singers know that our voices live in our bodies, not in our throats. It is the same for writers. The full power of your voice can only be accessed and expressed when you take the time to become consciously centered and connected in your body before you pick up your pen.

Writing happens amidst the busy-ness of real, daily life.

I won’t ask you to cloister yourself on a mountain top, shut out the world, or drop all your existing commitments. But I will invite you to make a deep commitment to prioritizing your writing on a regular basis. This consistent nourishment and attention is the most powerful thing you can do in relationship to your authentic voice.

It’s easy to ignore your writing when you feel alone.

Are you more likely to keep your creative commitments when you know someone else is waiting to hear from you? Just knowing you have a dedicated time and place to show up and be seen and acknowledged for your creative courage provides the motivation you need to stay committed to your writing practice.

What do we mean by Wild Embodied Writing?

Wild carries many meanings, and I wonder what it sparks within you? Do you feel you’re allowed to be wild? Or that to be wild is to stray from the accepted path, or to place yourself in a dangerous situation?

Your wildness is your magic…which is exactly why it was likely stamped out of you. Or maybe they tried (and mostly failed.)

Wild is your true nature, your untamed and audacious self. This inner terrain is where your authentic voice roams, and you’ll be invited to meet her there and listen deeply to what she has to say.

Embodied is to create a home for your soul and spirit, and to fully occupy your lived experience. The aim of embodiment is to come into wholeness, to feel integrated within yourself.

When you’re centered in your physical body, it generates a power in your writing that transcends the page, and connects to your readers with a visceral depth. Contacting your sensory intelligence allows you to write with vivid details.

Writing is a powerful, yet imperfect, form of communication. And there will be conversations about the gifts AND limitations of the written language within this program.
