Book Design

Bringing a book into the world is a sacred process that deserves time, care, and attention. I love helping holistic, heart-centered authors find a visual voice for their book that stands out and attracts ideal readers. I start by understanding the essential energy of your book so I can create a visual design that mirrors and amplifies these qualities.

I can work with you on the cover design of your print or ebook, as well as the layout and formatting of the interior. I believe that a well designed book makes it easier for the reader to enjoy and absorb your message, so they can have that transformational experience you hoped for.

I work with authors on cover designs at all different stages of the writing journey, depending on your needs. Particularly when you’re in the editing phase, there’s something wonderfully real about having a cover design to share with your audience to create excitement for your forthcoming book!

*Add-on marketing graphics and book mock-ups are available to help you share and promote your work.

Leah is a designer with a gifted eye and an attention to detail... and she is also so much more. She intuitively finds all the ways to bring out the best of the vision you started with, creating exactly what your dream reader is excited to grab off the shelf.

My Design Philosophy

As a fellow author, I love working with authors in the genres I love and understand deeply. This typically includes:

  • Spirituality

  • Self-Help

  • Business and Entrepreneurship

  • Wellness

  • Personal Growth

  • Memoir

  • Poetry

In general, my aesthetic is described by clients as rich, modern, romantic, vibrant, clean, and magnetic. My role as your designer is to build a bridge between you, the author, and the readers who will be picking up your beautiful book.

Your book cover must ‘stop the scroll’ and grab the attention of your ideal community of readers! In this way, your cover is an extension of your brand, your presence, and your bigger purpose for your work in the world.

But the experience doesn’t stop there, which is why I also offer interior formatting and layout. By working with a single designer on the full project, I’m able to offer a cohesive energy, inside and out, that is focused on the reader.

In my career as a book designer, I’ve had the pleasure of working with traditional publishers, such as Hampton Roads (an imprint of RedWheel/ Weiser Books) and independent presses, like The Unbound Press and That Guy’s House. I love working with independent authors, helping them navigate the design process to make it as easy, enjoyable, and fulfilling as possible.

The portfolio below is just a sample of my work, covering a wide range of genres and authors of every background.

BOOK DESIGN PORTFOLIO

Kind words from clients…

Thank you for your brilliance, your creativity, your attention to detail, your energy. I need to keep writing books to keep working with you!
— Jo Gifford, author of Wild Currents
I’ve been a designer, so I not only have high standards, but also trouble handing over control, and working with Leah was a dream. It took the tiniest leap of faith from me, which she paid back a thousand fold with a book that was more beautiful than I’d even envisioned. I’m so grateful to have worked with her, and that her work is out there, helping other authors confidently share their magic and message with the world.
— Seryna Myers, author of Sacred Anger
Leah Kent designed the cover of my dreams! She nerded out with me over fonts and calligraphy and understood my being picky about specific fonts. She sent four even better examples than what I could have suggested. I would absolutely work with her again!
— Amy Babiarz, author of After the Last Fall from the Unbound Press
